WHAT IS IT?
Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim) is a fixed combination medication that combines two folate antagonist medications.
WHEN DO WE USE IT?
Urinary tract infections: this is a very setting in which this medication will be used.
WHEN DO WE AVOID USING IT?
In pregnant patients: this medicament is contraindicated during pregnancy, and is not used for UTIs in the setting of pregnancy.
HOW IS IT ADMINISTERED?

Neutropenia can be a side effect of taking this medication.
