SUMMARY
Avoidant personality disorder is used to describe an individual who wishes to make friends, however is unable to due to the fear of rejection. As the name suggests these patients will avoid social interaction.
At their base these patients struggle with feelings of inadequacy, and will only pursue relationships when they feel convinced that they will be accepted.
