OVERVIEW
Performing a pulse exam is an important part of a pre-procedure assessment. It is meant to document a pulse exam prior to intervention to make sure there is not a complication post procedure which would compromise blood flow to the accesses extremity.
FEMORAL ACCESS
For cases with femoral access it is routine to check the pedal pulses (DP and PT) prior to accessing the femoral artery. If these pulses are not palpable one can try to doppler them.
