WHAT IS IT?

Subcutaneous emphysema refers to a finding on radiological studies where gasser is in the layer under the skin. This finding can be present on many different radiological studies.

DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS FOR THIS FINDING

When seeing a subcutaneous emphysema, it is important too keep in mind the following possible causes of this finding:

  • Rupture of the trachea: this can be caused by traumatic intubation.
