OVERVIEW
Meconium aspiration syndorme refers to a condition characterized by respiratory distress in a neonate after delivery through meconium-stained amniotic fluid (whose symptoms cannot otherwise be explained).

WHAT CAUSES IT?
As the name suggests, aspiration of meconium is responsible for causing this condition.

Meconium fluid during delivery
Initial Presentation
- Respiratory distress in a newborn following delivery
CLINICAL WORKUP
X-Ray imaging can show the following:
- Hyperinflation of the lungs
- Patchy infiltrates
