Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) refers to

Initial Presentation:
Physical complaints:
- Bloating
- Fatigue
- Headaches
- Breast tenderness
Behavioral complaints:
- Anxiety
- Irritably
- Mood swings
- Decreased interest
Physical Examination:
Typically unremarkable (in isolated PMS)
WORKUP
Symptom/menstrual diary: patients are encouraged to keep a diary documenting the timing/nature of their symptoms. A period of 2 menstrual cycles is generally recommended.
- Recurrence of symptoms 1-2 weeks prior to menses
- Resolution during follicular phase (consent of menses/fet days after).
