OVERVIEW

Menopause refers to the loss of ovarian activity, and the permanent cessation of menses. It is diagnosed after 12 consecutive months of amenorrhea (in the absence of a pathological cause).

Risk Factors:

Older age

Initial Presentation:

  • Irregular/absent menses
  • Temperature regulation issues: heat intolerance, flushing, night sweats
  • Insomnia
