Interventional Radiology Equipment: Microcatheter Set

OVERVIEW

This page is dedicated to exploring a microcatheter system (and how to use it). This is a very commonly used piece of equipment in interventional radiology to gain access into smaller caliber anatomical spaces (such as smaller blood vessels).. The microcatheter set used in the videos on this page is the Concentric Medical Trevo Pro 18 Microcatheter (REF 90238). The wire used is the EV3 Mirage .008 Hydrophilic Guidewire (REF 103-0608)

Microcatheters can be a bit difficult to handle at first, however if you understand how the system works it is much less daunting. Use this page as a primer on how to use the microcatheter system (image source).
HOW TO USE THE MICROCATHETER SYSTEM

The video below explains in detail how to use the microcatheter system with a Tuohy-Borst adapter and a torque device.
