Epididymitis refers to inflammation of the epididymis.
WHAT CAUSES IT?
There can be various causes of this condition including:
- Chlamydia trachomatis infection
- Neisseria gonorrhoeae infection
- Mumps
WHAT MAKES US SUSPECT IT?
Initial Presentation:
- Scrotal pain
- Scrotal swelling
Genitourinary Exam (Physical Exam):
- Scrotal swelling
- Tenderness of epididymis to palpation
- Relief of scrotal pain with elevation of testicle(s)
