Archive Of Standardized Exam Questions: Delusional Disorder

OVERVIEW

This page is dedicated to organizing various examples of standardized exam questions whose answer is delusional disorder. While this may seem a odd practice, it is useful to see multiple examples of how delusional disorder will be characterized on standardized exams (namely the boards and the shelf exams). This page is not meant to be used as a tradition question bank (as all of the answers will be the same), however seeing the classic “test” characterization for a disease is quite valuable.

QUESTION EXAMPLES

Question # 1

A 53 year old woman is brought to the emergency room because of peculiar behavior for the past 4 months. Her parents say that she has been insisting that her father and the next door neighbor have been stealing money from her. She also believes her neighbor has been blowing fumes under her door, which is causing her to have headaches. She has, on many occasions, called the radio stations and newspapers to report these events. She believes she is healthy and acting reasonably. She has no past history of any psychotic illnesses. Her mental status exam shows no incoherence, loose associations, or hallucinations. She is oriented and her memory si intact. What is the most likely diagnosis?
