Dantrolene

WHAT IS IT?

Dantrolene is a direct muscle relaxant. This medication prevents calcium release form the sarcoplasmic reticulum of skeletal muscle by binding the ryanodine receptor.

WHEN DO WE USE IT?

Neuroleptic Malignant Syndromethis medication is used to address the muscle stiffness patients experience with this condition.

Malignant hyperthermiathere are induced muscle contractions in this condition that can be treated with Dantrolene.
