Baclofen

WHAT IS IT?

Baclofen (Kemstro) is a muscle relaxant that works by activating GABA-B receptors at the spinal cord level.

WHEN DO WE USE IT?

Muscle spasms/spasticity: conditions causing central spinal cord lesions (such as multiple sclerosis) can cause painful muscle spasms that can be treated with this medication.

Anxiety: in some cases Baclofen is used to control anxiety as well.

Baclofen withdrawal can occur if the medication is stopped abruptly.
