Vertebral Artery

VESSEL PATHWAY

The vertebral artery is a branch of the subclavian artery.

Aorta → Brachiocephalic (right side only) → Subclavian → Vertebral artery

This artery gives rise to the posterior inferior cerebral artery (PICA)  and anterior spinal artery before joining with the other vertebral artery to form the basilar artery.
