Archive Of Standardized Exam Questions: Kallmann Syndrome

OVERVIEW

This page is dedicated to organizing various examples of standardized exam questions whose answer is Kallmann syndrome. While this may seem a odd practice, it is useful to see multiple examples of how Kallmann syndrome will be characterized on standardized exams (namely the boards and the shelf exams). This page is not meant to be used as a tradition question bank (as all of the answers will be the same), however seeing the classic “test” characterization for a disease is quite valuable.

QUESTION EXAMPLES

Question # 1

A 20 year old woman comes to the clinic because she has never had a menstrual period. The patient also explains that for her entire life she has had difficulty differentiating between different smells. A physical exam reveals that breast development is Tanner stage 2, and there is sparse pubic and axillary hair. A pelvic exam reveals a normal appearing cervix. What is a possible diagnosis?

Explanation: amenorrhea + inability to differentiate smells = Kallmann syndrome
